Most out-there piece of UF flair she owns: An orange and blue La-z-Boy recliner with a telephone and remote storage in the right arm, drink fridge in the left arm.

Favorite bands growing up: The Eagles, Queen, U2 and The Police.

Dream vacation: A relaxing Christmas in Hawaii with my entire family (but hiking, snorkeling and other adventures planned throughout for a few of us).

Items she can make from scratch: Yarn, fabric, soap, my grandmother's snickerdoodle cookies. I grew up demonstrating with my spinning wheel at schools and festivals, and I still enjoy being a living historian and reenactor in my spare time.

Best Scottish Highland Games event: Caber toss. Yes, I throw telephone poles (actually, small logs - real telephone poles are far too dense and heavy. We've tried them.) The idea is to throw the pole end over end so it lands in the 12 o'clock position. I generally do.

Grammatical pet peeve: This one was instilled in me by a Gator: improper use of the word "only." Too often it gets placed in front of a verb: "I only want ice cream for dessert." That's it? You just want it? You won't eat it, or look at it, or crave it, or dream about it? It would be more accurate to write that you want ONLY ice cream for dessert, not some other choice such as cake or cookies (unless, of course, you want ice cream after dinner and no other time, in which case you want ice cream for dessert ONLY. Make mine Ben and Jerry's.) Other pet peeves include overusing "that," misplacing modifiers and throwing commas at a page to see where they stick.
